In this profile, Mary Ann Tourney, the company’s senior director of internal audit, discusses a 12-month project to evaluate internal controls systemically. Tourney says, “I am a big believer that you can do more with data mining than interviewing. You need both, but establishing an effective internal audit department with a meaningful value proposition goes beyond the surface of what controls are implied or what people want them to be.”
